Self-styled ‘Selfie Queen’ or Publicity Seeker?

by Les May
I live in Rochdale.  It’s not difficult to find people eager to give you their opinion about our very own self-styled ‘Selfie Queen’, Karen Danczuk formerly Karen Burke.  Older people, and especially older ladies, tend to be less than impressed by her past enthusiasm for flaunting her cleavage.  Those of a political bent use words like ‘deluded’ when talking about her pretensions to becoming an MP and point to her not altogether successful spell as a local councillor when she gained a reputation for being less than assiduous in attending to some of her duties.

But never have I come across anyone, nor do I expect to, who would suggest that vandalising her car, or indeed any of her property, is acceptable behaviour.

You do not have to be one of her Twitter followers to empathise with Karen over the problem of damage to her car. But that does not preclude us from taking a closer look at this story.

http:  //www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-4257178/Vandals-target-Karen-Danczuk-s-car-trial.html

She is quoted as saying:
'Since trial I've had five attacks on car (slashed tyres, diesel, nails, paintwork) I'm sure its coincidence but remember, I travel with two boys.'

'These attacks are either linked to the trial or a sheer coincidence. They are clearly targeted at me for whatever reason and I can only speculate.
'But these incidents are another example of why victims are too scared to come forward.  I want to remind these people that I travel with two young boys and it is putting their lives in danger as well as my own life.'

Now no one can object to the last of these four statements.  It is manifestly true. But when I read the first three I began to wonder if we were not seeing here the beginnings of a narrative into which every subsequent happening could be fitted.
Why mention ‘the trial’?
Why mention a link to ‘the trial’?
Why write ‘these incidents are another example of why victims are too scared to come forward’?

I have seen this tactic adopted before.  It is what I complained about in 2014 in my Amazon review of her ex-husband’s now discredited book ‘Smile for the Camera’ where I wrote ‘The writing style adopted is to let the narrative drive the evidence not the evidence drive the narrative.’

https://www.amazon.co.uk/review/R3A7XZP51EW0A6

The problems which arise when this approach to story telling is adopted are highlighted by the fact that when Northamptonshire police investigated one of the stories in ex-husband Simon’s book it was found to have no basis in fact.

A good story was enough to get it a place in the book because it fitted into the narrative the authors had constructed for Cyril Smith.

Adam Simmonds, Northamptonshire Police and Crime Commissioner, ended up asking for an apology from Danczuk and said ‘Everything in that book's got to be evidence-led and -based, otherwise you are alerting people to the wrong information.’

 http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-northamptonshire-33716982

Until such time as the police arrest someone, he or she is convicted of damaging Karen’s car and shown to have done it because they were disgruntled about the outcome of ‘the trial’ I see no reason to fall in line with Karen’s narrative.

It’s not the first time she has tried to construct a narrative which suits the image of herself she is keen to project. She tried to pull off the same trick in January when on ‘Good Morning Britain’ the story was that her ‘prolific use of social media is 100% linked to being abused as a child’. Evidence for this? None! Just a bit of wishful thinking.

http://www.itv.com/news/2017-01-03/karen-danczuk-my-selfies-were-100-linked-to-being-abused/

And how about the two year old story from February 2015, ‘Selfie-mad councillor Karen Danczuk is auctioning herself off this Valentine's day’?  What’s her excuse, sorry explanation, for this bit of self publicity? Or the story of a similar vintage which informs us that on first meeting her Harriet Harman told her 'You're too pretty to be interested in politics and should be in Girls Aloud'

http://www.itv.com/news/granada/update/2015-02-11/a-valentines-date-with-danczuk/ http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2950535/Harriet-Harman-told-Labour-MP-s-wife-Karen-Danczuk-pretty-interested-politics-Girls-Aloud.html

Karen’s attempts to construct a narrative to project a particular image of herself will not doubt continue.   But we don’t have to buy into it.  The findings of the court stand because they have been tested under our adversarial system of justice.  What Karen is quoted as saying in the media and what she posts on Twitter have not, so we are free to believe as much or as little as we like.

She seems to me not to have ‘waived her right to anonymity’, but to have massacred it.  A figure of about £20,000 was mentioned in court for a newspaper story from 2015 almost two years before the verdict. It was no doubt coincidence that this story came out at much the same time as the ‘Valentine dinner’ and the Harman story.  Whether the spate of post trial media stories have been a ‘nice little earner’ I don’t know, but I cannot help having noticed how often the images which accompany them are attributed to agencies which are not unknown to the Danczuk duo.

If Karen has any serious pretensions to a career in politics she will stop trying to be famous and aiming to be a celebrity, drop her smart phone in the canal and get a proper job.
I’m not holding my breath.

Danczuk Clan Crucified at Rochdale Labour HQ!

SINCE the infamous case of the “Rochdale Seven” - the expulsion of seven Labour members over their complaints about Danczuk’s suitability as a candidate which was triggered by his then girlfriend Karen Burke being dumped at Alicante Airport with no money and two small children to look after - Danczuk has had the backing of his local Labour party, duly rubber-stamped by the national organisation.
But after he was suspended following the revelation of his “sexting” a 17-year-old girl just over a year ago, the cracks started to appear. When it came to nominating a Labour candidate for the new post of Metro Mayor for Manchester, Danczuk’s backers tried to keep front-runner Andy Burnham out of the constituency. They failed: Burnham got to address local party members, and Rochdale CLP then backed him.
So it should have surprised no-one last week, at Rochdale CLP’s AGM, that Simon Danczuk’s friends and apologists got what the Norwegian football commentator memorably called “One hell of a beating”. Apart from the position of treasurer, which none of Spanker Si’s detractors wanted to contest, every other post up for grabs was secured by someone who wants Danczuk out of Rochdale Labour politics.
Every last post on the CLP taken away from what is referred to in a tone more serious than outsiders might imagine as “The Danczuk mafia”. Another prop kicked away from an MP who still fantasises about being let back into a party which gives every sign of not wanting anything more to do with him. And it gets worse - a lot worse.

Who is the real Karen Danczuk?

AS Karen Danczuk, the estranged wife of Simon Danczuk MP for Rochdale, was  pictured last week in The Sun newspaper entering La Belle beauty parlour in leafy Cheadle, Stockport, she said 'My healing starts now'.  She followed this up by branding her own 38-year-old brother, Michael Burke, a 'selfish coward' and declaring 'I hope he rots in jail'.  Mr. Burke had just been sentenced to 15-years on eight counts of rape and one indecent assault against his sister and two other women who cannot be named.  Mrs. Burke had previously told The Sun, 'My brother is a monster for raping me'.  She had told the jury the abuse perpetrated by her brother had ruined her schooling, left her incapable of love and intimacy and that she struggles with depression and anxiety.  Those of our readers who may not had seen Karen Danczuk, who is said to be a regular panelist on ITV's 'Loose Women', and has performed on 'Bear Grylls', may care to peruse the colourful detailed report below in The Sun's rival newspaper The Mail on Sunday published in July 2015:
'claim of threats to kill ...' - The Danczuk's Dark Side!

Dark side of the Danczuks: A Spanish family holiday suddenly abandoned.  A text that read: ‘I’m scared.’  A claim of threats to kill... Disturbing questions about the MP who crusades against abuse
By David Rose for The Mail on Sunday
PUBLISHED: 22:06, 11 July 2015 | UPDATED: 13:50, 12 July 2015
It’s not often I say this but I’m scared,’ said the midnight text that Karen Burke sent to her mother, Sue, from Spain. ‘Who knows how long I’ll have to stay in [the] airport for? I can’t believe he’s done this!’ It was very late on August 25, 2008, and Karen’s future husband Simon Danczuk was about to dump her, their infant son, Milton, and her seven-year-old niece Eboni at Alicante airport after a titanic holiday row – without airline tickets or enough money to get home.
Soon to be elected as Rochdale’s Labour MP, Mr Danczuk would later become famous as a scourge of child abusers. But that day at Alicante after an evening of escalating conflict with his partner, he seemed ready to leave both Karen and the children to their fates. They were forced to wait at the airport all night while her family in Rochdale desperately tried to arrange and pay for flights home for them the next day.
Today, The Mail on Sunday can reveal disturbing new details of this incident – and of contemporary statements about it drawn up for a secretive Labour Party inquiry. These alleged that although he was apparently provoked, Mr Danczuk not only abandoned but physically assaulted his partner.
The inquiry was held not to decide whether Mr Danczuk had attacked Karen but whether those who claimed he had, by so doing so had brought the party into disrepute. It ruled in Mr Danczuk’s favour and five party members were expelled. Interviewed by this newspaper last week, some of the statements’ authors – close members of Simon and Karen Danczuk’s families – insisted they stand by what they said, and they remain certain they are relating the story as Karen told it to them.
Mr Danczuk has always denied the row became violent and that he assaulted Karen. Afterwards, they were reconciled and she now also denies the claims of an assault. She told Rochdale Online that she was distressed by the accusation, describing it as ‘very offensive’. And Mr Danczuk slammed the allegations as ‘vicious mischief making’, adding that they were ‘totally untrue and absolute nonsense’.

But even if the allegations of violence were exaggerated, it is clear they emerged directly from what Karen told her family that night and during the following day. The incident raises disturbing questions about the volatility of the couple’s subsequent marriage – which recently juddered to a very public halt. Our investigation comes as the Sunday Mirror today reports bizarre claims that Mrs Danczuk considered paying a lapdancer £1,000 to sleep with her husband in an attempt to end their marriage. Today we can reveal that:

Ex-School Governor Michael Burke Sentenced

KAREN Danczuk's brother, Michael Burke, was this morning given a 15-year sentence on eight counts of rape and one of buggery in Court Two of the Manchester Crown Court.
Sentencing, Mr Justice Gilbart said that he did accept that former Labour party activist Michael Burke had ‘done something for the community’, with Mr Walker adding that he had also been a school governor.
Michael Burke, 38, of College Bank, Rochdale , was found guilty of historic raping his own sister Karen Burke, now Mrs Danczuk - the estranged wife of Rochdale MP Simon Danczuk.  He was also convicted of sexual assaults on two other women - one of whom was just 12 when she was attacked by him.
Handing down the sentence for Burke for eight rape charges and one of buggery, the High Court judge told him:  'Your first victim was your sister...what had been tickling games and hide and seek in and out of your bedroom turned into you wanting her to touch you and then, when you got to 14, to exploit her further.'
Karen Daczuk was legally entitled to anonymity as a victim of a sex assault, but had now formally waived it after Michael Burke was found guilty, after The Sun newspaper ran an exclusive story of her ordeal.
It is not yet clear if Ms. Danczuk has been paid for this story.

Michael Burke Guilty of Rape!

£17K or £23K?:  It was The Sun that Paid It!
YESTERDAY Karen Danczuk, 33, the estranged wife of Rochdale MP Simon Danczuk and a former Rochdale councillor, waived her right to anonymity by speaking publicly after her brother’s conviction on rape charges.
Mrs Danczuk, the estranged wife of Rochdale MP Simon Danczuk and a former Rochdale councillor, told the jury at Manchester Crown Court which convicted her brother of a series of sex attacks:  'Whereas my first time of having sex was with my brother.  It’s horrible.  Even now I can’t sleep naked.  I can’t even cuddle in bed.  Most people remember their first time having sex with somebody they love.'
She told a jury she was regularly molested in the family home between the ages of six or seven until she was 15 or 16 by Michael Burke, her brother who is five years older than her.
After a three-week trial on Wednesday, the jury found Mr Burke guilty of eight counts of rape and another serious sexual offence against three women, including three counts of rape against his sister between 1992 and 1994.
He was cleared of nine other serious sexual offences.
Karen Danczuk initially revealed publicly she had been abused, without naming her attacker, in an interview with The Sun newspaper in February last year.
The two other victims came forward shortly afterwards.  Neither can be named for legal reasons.  During the trial Mrs Danczuk gave evidence from behind a curtain around the witness box, shielding her from the dock where her tormentor sat, often shaking his head in denial.
The mother of two boys aged six and eight, told of her unconventional and unhappy childhood, growing up in a terraced house in Middleton, near Rochdale.
Northern Voices, which was covering the case on last Friday and the Monday of this week, heard in the summing-up by The Hon. Mr Justice Gilbart* that Karen Danczuk had been paid a sum of money for The Sun interview.  The amount is disputed but is said to be in the region of either £17,000 or £23,000.
In her evidence Karen Danczuk said:
'It started out like it was a game, it was not so much an attack, it was, like, innocent.
'It was a game of hide and seek, think I was about six or seven. He would always take me into his bed. He would lie next to me, we would be under the bed covers for ages. The first time he was literally on top of me naked.
'It was a slow process. That kind of went on for some time, the hide under the bed covers stuff carried on. It still haunts me now.'
She said the abuse progressed to rape, aged 11, on a weekly basis, usually on a Sunday evening which was 'bath night' and continued until she was 16.
The first person she told of these events was a clinical psychologist at Nye Bevan House in Rochdale in 2009 after she felt suicidal and depressed.
She was cross-examined over two days by Nigel Power QC, defending her brother, who queried why she went first to the papers before the police, asked if money was her motivation and accused her of 'attention seeking'
She said:  'To this day I have grown up and fought my whole life to change my childhood.  I decided I would come forward, that was my choice.
'Before I ever became famous I was seeking help, before I ever knew I would end up in the public eye.
'This idea that it is just attention, this has ruined my life.  I have had a horrendous life, it’s a fact.  This is why I have had help from doctors because it’s a fact.  Days when you have, being dead makes more sense than being alive.
'I think I finally felt ready to face it, I’m ready to see this through, he can’t get away with what he did.
'My life has been hell for what he’s done, I don’t want anything, I want closure.'
Meanwhile, today The Sun ran another exclusive story based on Karen Danczuk's account of how she suffered from her brother's attentions when they both were children in the early 1990s.
Mr. Michael Burke will be sentenced on December 15.  After the guilty verdicts, Mr Justice Gilbart told Mr. Burke:  'A custodial sentence is inevitable.'

Danczuk's Scandal in the United Kingdom

The British MP who obsesses on women & sex
(from the Spanish newspaper El Español dated 1st, August 2016)
Translated by B. Bamford
SUSPENDED by the Labour Party for maintaining a correspondence with a minor, now (Rochdale MP) Simon Danczuk who finished up with a flow of new lovers that denounced his obsession.  'He's just mad about sex', said one of them.
His sexual obsessions caused his suspension of his affiliation from the Labour Party.  But nothing helps, because the British MP, Simon Danczuk (49-years), always goes back to his old ways. After a few weeks he contacted a 22-year-old girl on Twitter, and finished up spending hours exchanging messages and he wrote:  'You have made me horny'.  The tone reached fever pitch and the MP ended up having it off with the girl on his constituency office table.  The thing is that his sexual problems always finish-up appearing in the pages of the press.  And this is in a conservative country like Great Britain, paying the price.
Apart  from this, the Danczuk office is also the place of work of his official lover (Karen Danczuk) who costs £22,000 (a year) in public funding.   And she isn't embarrassed at all with the warning signs of hairs on the office desk.  'He's mad about sex', she declared to The Sun: 'I feel privileged to be with such a well known member of parliament.  Yet I can see  that it was irresponsible... not right to use his official like an “sexual apartment”.'
They both admit exchanging up to 6,000 telephonic messages in which they talked of sex in a direct and explicit manner.  Including when she engaged in conversations on other questions like Brexit for example.  The youngster was concerned  about the departure of the United Kingdom from the European Union, and how it might effect the status of Britain in respect of Eurovision:  'You  fuck hard but without being able to think about the Eurovision bitch', she answered him.
The girl, admitted that he 'attached' a lot to these types of relationships and had contacted her for the first time from his office after consuming two bottles of wine.  In this respect it is his dependence on alcohol, which Danczuk blames when he comes to justify himself for his sexual aberrations.  And he drinks a lot.
The history of the Danczuks is extensive.  In 2006 he married Sonia Milewski, with whom he remained until 2010, and they had two children.  They separated over his infidelities.  He repeated this history with Karen Burke (Danczuk), whom he married in 2010, the same year he became the Member of Parliament for Rochdale. Karen is known as 'The Queen of the Selfies' for her passion for portraying and displaying her photos on the internet.  Above all they are provocative.  With Karen (Danczuk) he also has two children, but they divorced in December 2015.  This same month one of his other lovers (maybe she thought she was his only one) ditched him for his infidelity.
The women in his life began to contact the press to tell their stories about an intimate life experiences and tell of very active sex..  But apparently this is not enough (for the MP), and he ended-up with an adolescent aged 17-years.  This is the relationship that cost Danczuk:  (for this) the Labour Party suspended his membership in December 2015.    As a consequence he was denounced by young Sophena Houlihan, to whom the MP sent tens of sexually explicit messages after she approached his office in pursuit of work.
In the circumstances a work by Danczuk having been responsible for the formation of a controversial commission that is tasked with investigating the abuse of minors in Great Britain by political VIPs.  This work, admitted (Danczuk), had provoked his depression owing to the stress.  In 2012, he published a book in which he revealed the dark side of his predessesor (Cyril Smith):  who was a serial pederast.
His recent history that has come out into the light has now cost (Danczuk) dear.  This is because of the girl that has recounted to The Sun the tale his (sexual) relations both up there in his constituency office and also in his own home (with the kids upstairs) in the house that he shared for years with his own wife.  Whatever, the girl has said that when they split up he showed great sadness.  'I believe he's obsessed with having sex with me', lamented the young girl to the newspaper.
The history is clear and if anyone looks back, they will see the political journey of Danczuk as full of danger.  In 2010, for example, the Labour MP, Nigel Griffins (61-years), stood down after admitting he had been unfaithful to his wife in his office in the House of Commons.
For now, Danczuk has had to defend himself against the accusation of indiscretion and fiscal fraud.  He has said that the allegations are malicious and represent a criticism of his private life that are 'a bit colourful'.   But let us say:  in a conservative country like Great Britain, the road of  Danczuk doesn't seem to have much future.

Domestic Tiffs in Ambridge & Rochdale

Rochdale's Liberals 'Lend Credibility to Spurious Tabloid Tales'
This link may be worth including in any preamble that you write.

Letter to the editor of the Rochdale Observer (9th, April 2016):
Dear Editor,

As a lifelong Labour voter it pains me to have to point out that Andy
Kelly seems more in tune with what people think about Mr Danczuk's
behaviour since he became the town's MP than Martin Burke appears to be.

As for the 'spurious tabloid tales' which Mr Burke refers to he should
note that it is not Mr Kelly who was suspended by his party for
'inappropriate' texts sent to a young woman; it is not Mr Kelly who has
been told to pay back £11,000 of parliamentary expenses he claimed but
was not entitled to; it is not Mr Kelly who financially benefited from
one of those 'tabloid tales'. Need I go on?

And if Mr Kelly is taking advantage of Mr Danczuk's fall from grace
should we be surprised? After all throughout the summer of 2014 we were
regularly treated to attempts to smear the Lib-Dems with regard to the
thirty five year old story of Cyril Smith's antics at Cambridge House,
until it was pointed out that at the time Smith was a member of the
Labour party and that the late Mr Roger Chadwick had gone on record as
saying that he told the Labour agent about Smith's behaviour at the
time.

Had Mr Burke not felt the urge to respond, Mr Kelly's comments would
have been forgotten. Now they have been given a new lease of life. Or
was that the idea all along?

Danczuk's Defence & the John Prescott case

by Les May
I'VE never thought there was much mileage in the argument that Simon Danczuk abused his position as a potential employer when he exchanged messages loaded with sexual innuendo with a 17-year-old who turned to be a small business woman with a nice line in toe nail clippings, used undergarments and on-line humiliation.  But given the way this particular story burst upon the scene it is difficult to see what else Labour could do but to suspend him.
According to one of his 'friends', he is going to use the 'John Prescott defence', in that because the Labour party did not expel John Prescott for having a two year affair with his diary secretary between 2002 and 2004, it ought not now to exclude Simon Danczuk for exchanging suggestive e-mails with a 17-year-old girl.
One spin off from this story is that evidence has emerged that at least some members of the world's second oldest profession have a sense of humour.  Or is it that they are suffering from an irony deficiency?
It appears that Mr Danczuk's lawyers Bindmans, have branded the his suspension as: 'detrimental to his career and reputation'.
Well it may turn out to be decidedly detrimental to his career, but detrimental to his REPUTATION?
Simon's seemingly belligerent attitude in this may not be cleverest approach to take.  As the story unfolded his first wife, now Mrs Rossington, and his recent girlfriend, Claire Hamilton both had some not very nice things to say about him.  Instead of quietly 'taking it on the chin', he decided to argue back.  As a result his first wife took her complaints to the Police, and Claire Hamilton had quite a bit more to say and is now offering to give evidence if asked to do so.
Pursuing a course which seems designed to inflict maximum damage on the Labour party in an effort to have the suspension lifted so that he can be readmitted is unlikely to win him many friends.  Claims by his lawyers that his treatment so far by the party is, 'an affront to the rules of natural justice', are only likely to open some very old wounds.
In 2009, five members of the Rochdale Labour party were expelled after a complaint by Mr Danczuk, when they called for an investigation into what had happened in Spain during an apparent disagreement between Mr Danczuk, and the then Karen Burke.  One of their claims was that between the time the complaint was made and the time of the hearing, other more serious charges had been added.  Simon is not on record as claiming this was 'an affront to natural justice'.
You can read more about the incident in Spain at the links below ;
