FOLLOWING a protest last Monday morning by local critics of the colourful
Rochdale MP Simon Danczuk's ongoing incontinent conduct in his personal and
political life; come supper-time Mr Danczuk was met with allegations of 'historic
rape'.
A spokesman for the
Lancashire Police on Monday said:
'We can confirm we
have received a report of historic rape dating back to to 2006. We are in the very early stages of an
investigation and inquires are on-going.
The complaints relate to a 49-year-old man.'
Replying to the claims
of rape Mr. Danczuk, the Labour MP for Rochdale, has said:
'These claims are
malicious, untrue and extremely upsetting.'
Mr. Danczuk says: '...I will co-operate fully with any inquires
and am confident my name will be cleared.'
The Rochdale MP, seen as a
campaigner against child sex abuse, is already facing an inquiry by the
Labour Party into his admission of sending explicit texts to the 17-year-old
Rochdale girl Sophena Houlihan. Since
then his first wife Sonia Rossington said in an interview last Sunday that he
had 'bullied' her into sex during their eight-year marriage.
Also on Monday, The
Sun ran an editorial almost complaining that the remarkable Danczuk
case was distracting people from Jeremy Corbyn's reshuffle of the Labour Shadow
Cabinet.
On Monday The
Sun editorial declared:
'... the daily revelations about Simon
Danczuk's love life are
toe-curling. His first ex-wife was a sex
worker. His second ex-wife makes a
living from selfies. And the young girl
he pestered with sex texts is a dominatrix who sells her toenail
clippings. All of which makes the fate
of Labour's Shadow Foreign Secretary seem humdrum. But it matters.'
In the event it didn't
matter a jot. Because today, we learn
that Hilary Benn has retained his job as Shadow Foreign Secretary in Labour's
reshuffle. Perhaps The Sun will now claim
credit for this. Meanwhile, no doubt the rest of us will continue to be
distracted and bewildered by the Rochdale MP Mr. Simon Danczuk's almost daily
dalliances.
