Portsmouth Shipyard to Close
SHIPYARDS in SCOTLAND have won out against the southern yard at Portsmouth it was reported this morning. This looks like a sop to the Scottish referendum over independence. Had they closed one of the two Scottish yards it would have been a gift to Scottish nationalism.
The Financial Times reports today:
'Although the company (BAE Systems) will not want to have large assets located in a foreign country should Scotland choose to become independent, the government will also be keen to make sure that it does not look like Scottish workers are being punished for decisions made in Westminter.'
Ther two Scottish yards are Govan and Scotstoun.
